Announcement to Dubai Metro Passengers during the New Year: the Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall metro station (red line) will be closed from 10pm on December 31 – Thursday. A comprehensive plan has been set up by RTA to manage the movement of public vehicles especially in the Burj Khalifa vicinity. Commuters are advised to use the Financial Centre and Business Bay metro stations where further directions will be posted.
The Dubai RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) has shared details of their transportation plan in line with the the New Year’s Eve celebrations, especially the area in Burj Khalifa where plenty of residents and tourists are expected to flock for the annual fireworks display.

Dubai metro commuters on New Year’s Eve are expected to reach around 900,000, and the following day, the expected number is around 480,000 passengers.
It is going to be a busy time with the festivities.
Dedicated Lanes for Taxis and Buses
Motorists are urged not to drive on Financial Centre Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard after 8pm on December 31st. Dedicated lanes will be given to buses and taxis.
Also, 5000 parking slots will be added to support the current 17000 parking spaces. These additional slots include 2,000 at Al Wasl Club, 1,500 at the World Trade Centre, 1,000 at Zabeel Park, and 500 at Al Jafiliya (at the Residency & Foreigners Affairs Department).
The street from Oud Metha to Burj Khalifa (Al Asayel Street) will be closed as this area will be reserved for RTA buses that offer free shuttle rides starting from Al Wasl Parking to Al Abraj Street at Burj Khalifa pick-up and drop-off point.
